The council heard an introduction from Faye Woodgate who is interested in the vacancy and attending the meeting to get accustomed to Council business. Vacancy to be addressed under agenda point 18.

Ongoing Actions List 

The company formally known as TWM (now PGTCS ltd) who installed the West Woodburn speed signs have been contacted using registered post. Subsequent emails have been exchanged in the hopes that they will arrange for the repair of the VAS.

Play Area & Village Green 

 

i. The ROSPA report highlighted that the field gates could catch people’s fingers so superfluous wood panels have been removed to widen the gaps. The small metal gate is getting stuck open because of raised turf. CW to arrange installation of some patio slabs. The report advised the equipment needed cleaned. CW to explore who can provide this service. ii. Storm damage to overhanging trees meant a large branch landed in the play area. This was cut back thanks to Chris Mowatt and the area was declared safe by tree surgeon Frank Chalton. A full survey of the parish trees will be done in winter. iii. Repairs to the large gates have been completed. The fence may benefit from wood treatment. CW to explore options.

Volunteers and Community Spending

 

The price of solar and wind powered defibrillators is being explored in hopes that they could be installed in East Woodburn. CW to ask Cllr Riddle if his fund could pay for this as well as a replacement for the West Woodburn defibrillator.

New radiators are in position. Funding for wifi and a generator is being sought. Coin meters are to be removed.

Correspondence 

i Northumberland Theatre company have had to change the Christmas Play to ‘Rumpelstiltskin and other tales.’ The Corsenside performance time of Sunday 30th of November at 3pm remains unchanged. 
ii. The Local Transport Priorities paperwork allows each parish to report their concerns or recommended improvements to the highways department of NCC. Having previously been submitted annually this will now take place once every three years. CW to pass on concern that this means unforeseen issues may not be able to be addressed in a timely manner. 
iii. NCC Call for sites for development was deemed irrelevant to our parish. 
iv. Consultation re a change to woodland management at Ray Estate – no objections
v. Alec MacLennan of Forestry England replied to several concerns raised by the Chair: The overdue repairs to the sculpture trail walk are scheduled for Autumn; discussion continues about extending several paths and the Jubilee Plantation both put on hold after Storm Arwen. 
vi. The landslip on the A68 south of West Woodburn is scheduled for repair on Monday 22nd of September during which the road will be closed.

i. Cllr Hamilton suggested the co-option of Faye Woodgate, of Ridsdale, to fill the final councillor vacancy. Seconded by Dawn Mole. Passed unanimously.
