B4RN update

 

 

Martin Dickson Green of B4RN gave an update on B4RN progress within the parish. Properties between the telephone exchange in West Woodburn to the south side of Ridsdale are no longer eligible for the scheme, and residents should speak to B4RN for precise details. Elsewhere in the parish wayleaves are in place and it is hoped work can start quickly once the required number of households have registered their interest.

Minutes of the last meeting – The first draft was amended to show NCC not the Police were paying for trials of speed cameras. Signed and agreed as correct.

Matters arising from the minutes 

 

 

i.Flooding beyond Chesterhope has been investigated by NCC and work begun. ii.The Christmas Play is boked for 30/11. iii. Cllr Hamilton has corresponded with MP Joe Morris about BTs removal of copper lines and received a somewhat general response. Cllr Hamilton has responded to this asking for specific answers to the points of public safety raised but has not received any further reply. Contact has been made with NALC to find other concerned parishes.

i.Cllr Hamilton due to inspect the area soon. ii. More cleaning is planned by Cllr Smith. 
iii. Some progress reported toward a funding application for new Meadow.

Volunteers and Community Spending

 

 

The Bay horse defibrillator was found to be inactive and a fresh battery did not solve the problem. The new battery was able to be returned for a full refund. Thanks to the Ridsdale Community group, who have allowed the use of the old Ridsdale defibrillator which has been located in The Gun, and the purchase by CPC of some new pads a working device is back in place. Several charities have been approached for a permanent replacement and we await the outcome of these applications.

Matters for discussion at the Chair’s discretion

 

 

i.Concern has been raised locally over parking by The Gun which may block access for emergency service vehicles and farm traffic along Armstrong Street. CW to publicise a request for consideration when parking. ii. Mud on the Shaw Lonnen has led to skidding vehicles. Responsibility for this lies with whomever leaves the deposits. CW to report to NCC. iii. A circular walk around Woodburn is reported as being difficult to traverse. CW to ask NCC footpath team to investigate. iv. A parishioner has complained that the stepping stones crossing the Rede are a poor state of repair and need attention. This has been recently discussed with NCC who feel the route is not used enough to justify costly intervention - the matter will be raised with them again. v. Cllr Hamilton to speak to Alex MacLennan of Forestry England about the sculpture trail at Fourlaws which shows no sign of reopening.
