County Councillor’s Report – C.Cllr Riddle gave an update about his NCC portfolio – Highways. i. Questions were asked about the landslip near Parkhead on the A68. A full survey is needed and repairs may not take place until summer. CPC raised concern about vehicles stopping on the bank and stressed the urgency of a swift resolution. ii. Average speed cameras are to be trialed locally by NCC. CPC to monitor this in hopes it may be possible to install along A68 in years to come. iii. The poor condition of Armstrong Street’s surface was raised, this will need to be submitted as a Local Transport Priority next year. iv. Capital schemes of over £2,000 can apply to C.Cllr Riddle for funding.

Ongoing Actions List – A problem with the display on the WW speed sign was noted and reported to TWM. After appearing to rectify itself, the decision was taken to monitor this.

Wind Power Stations 

i. An update was read aloud (see Appendix). ii. Clerk to ask B4RN for an update of work status within parish.

Parish Hall  

i. The council were saddened to hear of the death of Trustee David Newton and pass their condolences to his wife and family. ii. Repairs are needed to the Hall Floor. iii. It’s hoped to add further gravel to the car park. iv. Angela Wilson, who has been acting as secretary, is now a Trustee. v. The Hall committee expressed thanks to CPC for the donation towards the Children’s Christmas Party and reported that the event was a success. vi. The Hall committee continue to seek volunteers, especially handymen.

Correspondence

 

i. NCC have shared information about potential costs ahead of the parish elections this year.

ii. Spanglefish have explained the benefits of a website upgrade. Clerk to action. 

iii. BT’s Digital Voice team will hold a meeting at Bellingham Town Hall on 4th April re the removal of coper lines. It was agreed that Cllr Hamilton would contact our new MP to ensure that he was aware of the communication problems we now encounter during power cuts following the removal of copper wire telephone services.

iv. A survey abut wheeled sports is to be shared by the clerk. 

v. The play next Christmas will be It’s a Wonderful Life, clerk to book for Sun 30th Nov at 3pm.

Appendix - Wind Farm Report

Grants awarded to Church & Community Partnership for dementia training and Miscreations Theatre to support a week of workshops with local schools. 
Interviews are being held for new Directors this month. (January) 
B4RN Kirkwhelpington is progressing and houses are being connected now.
